Inner Fought

Inner FoughtThe world today is lit in shining colors,
Rainbows arch the skies without a drop of rain,
Music, conversations, the sound of people running,
To all around me, it’s just another day.

In my room, the darkness is deafening,
Faces I have known have turned to blank,
My thoughts are silent, even when I scream them,
Vying for some order in my head.

I know me, but what am I? I’m not sure,
Words I used to know have changed their sense,
My inner light is flickering, and I feel lonely, frightened,
Labor pains of rebirth at eighteen.
